Butterfly houses provide temporary shelter during inclement weather and hibernation habitats during the winter months for caterpillars.
 
One of our houses includes a rear door for placement of tree bark or other material inside to provide a perch for hibernation.
The house with no door will include small pieces of wood attached to the internal walls.
 
To attract butterflies, place a banana peel or pieces of fruit inside. Butterflies love oranges, grapefruits, strawberries, peaches, nectarines, and apples. 
 
Place your butterfly house in a sunny spot, sheltered from the wind, about 4 to 6 feet off the ground, during spring, summer and late fall.
